India's Ministry of Commerce exempted exports of organic wheat, non-Basmati rice, edible oils and sugar from quantitative ceilings on 19 April 2017. The ceiling on organic pulses and lentils was also raised from 10,000 to 50,000 metric tons per year.
The exemption is limited to APEDA-certified organic products, a small share of global grain flows, so the effect on world wheat, rice and vegetable oil prices should be minor. It modestly widens India's export channels for niche organic grains.
