The Mississippi River Commission announced its annual low-water inspection trip on the Mississippi River from Aug. 7 to 18, 2017.
Public meetings are scheduled in Cape Girardeau, Memphis, Vicksburg and Houma, and the trip includes a Red River leg with stops in Louisiana.
The inspection focuses on navigation and infrastructure along the river, which carries much of the Midwest grain barge traffic. The announcement itself does not change supply or prices.
