Vietnam's temporary safeguard duty on DAP and MAP imports took effect August 19, set at VND1,855,790 (US$82) per tonne and running to March 2018. The Ministry of Industry and Trade says it will protect domestic producers, which can supply about 80% of local demand.
The duty cuts import competition and lets domestic producers control supply, which raises DAP prices and farmers' production costs in Vietnam.
After 151 past bullish policy events, DAP moved a median +0.0% over 5 sessions (50% higher; middle half -0.6% to +0.9%), and +1.9% over 20.
