Vietnam's Ministry of Industry and Trade applied a temporary safeguard duty of about 1.9 million VND ($83.5) per tonne on certain DAP and MAP imports from August 19. The measure runs up to 200 days, ending by March 2018 or when official safeguards replace it.
A safeguard duty on imported DAP and MAP reduces Vietnam's import demand for these phosphates, which is mildly bearish for phosphate prices in the region.
