USDA's Economic Research Service released a report on farm structure showing family farms made up 98.8 percent of farms and 90 percent of production in 2016. A companion ERS report showed large farms received 41 percent of farm program payments in 2015, up from 23 percent in 1991.
These structural findings are background for farm bill debates over payment limits and do not directly move feed grain or meal prices.
