Malaysia's export duty suspension on crude palm oil has been extended to April 30, 2018, from the original April 7 end date. The duty may be lifted earlier if domestic CPO stocks fall below 1.6 million tonnes.
The suspension was introduced in January to reduce high stockpiles and support prices.
Zero-duty exports support Malaysian shipments and aim to reduce stockpiles, which supports palm oil prices. Ending the suspension early would reverse that support and could pressure prices.
After 548 past bullish policy events, Palm Oil moved a median +0.4% over 5 sessions (61% higher; middle half -0.7% to +2.1%), and +0.9% over 20.
