Argentina will raise its export tax on soybean oil-based biodiesel from 8% to 15% effective July 1. The government aims to boost tax receipts and narrow the gap between taxes on biodiesel and on soybean and soy oil exports, which are currently 27% and 25%.
A higher export tax on biodiesel reduces Argentine biodiesel shipments and redirects soybean oil toward domestic or other uses. The effect on world soyoil and meal prices is mixed and likely modest.
