An international team of researchers completed a life cycle assessment comparing current and emerging aquafeed protein ingredients on nutrition, scalability and environmental performance. The ingredients studied include Peruvian anchoveta meal, BC herring meal, soybean meal and soy protein concentrate, poultry by-product meal, feather meal, krill meal and black soldier fly meal.
The study points to diversification away from fishmeal toward soy and insect or by-product proteins, which over time could soften fishmeal demand growth. The near-term price impact is limited because it is a research finding rather than a supply shock.
Not enough comparable past events yet for a historical read.
After 250 past neutral report events, Soybean Meal moved a median -0.1% over 5 sessions (49% higher; middle half -1.6% to +1.7%), and +0.4% over 20.
Moves of each commodity's benchmark from the last close before the event. Historical reads pool past events of the same kind; they describe what happened, not what will. Not investment advice.
