India's DGFT notification sets 2018-19 export quotas under its bilateral agreement with Maldives. The quotas cover potatoes, onions, rice, wheat flour, sugar, dal and eggs, with rice at about 24,581 tonnes.
The permitted volumes are exempt from any future export restrictions.
The small rice quota is marginal to global supply, so the notification has little price impact.
After 100 past neutral policy events, Rough Rice moved a median +0.0% over 5 sessions (51% higher; middle half -2.6% to +2.3%), and +0.7% over 20.
Moves of each commodity's benchmark from the last close before the event. Historical reads pool past events of the same kind; they describe what happened, not what will. Not investment advice.
