Brazil's Central Bank reports that spending by Brazilians abroad fell 20.8% year on year to $1.382 billion in August. The decline reflects a 24.8% rise in the average dollar rate, to BRL 3.93, and spending by foreigners in Brazil rose 5.9%.
This is a currency-driven shift in consumer spending and does not directly change feed, grain or meat supply or demand. It has little effect on commodity prices.
After 621 past macro events, Brazilian Real (BRL per USD) moved a median +0.2% over 5 sessions (53% higher; middle half -1.3% to +1.4%), and +0.6% over 20.
Moves of each commodity's benchmark from the last close before the event. Historical reads pool past events of the same kind; they describe what happened, not what will. Not investment advice.
