Scottish researchers from SRUC, the James Hutton Institute and the University of Aberdeen found that most plant-based lysine comes from soybeans grown in a few countries. Their study argues that broadening lysine supply would require more soy production outside Brazil, the US and Argentina, or alternative sources such as other legumes or fermentation.
The study highlights long-term concentration of plant-based lysine in soybeans, but it proposes no near-term change in supply or demand that would move soybean or meal prices.
After 563 past neutral report events, Soybeans moved a median -0.1% over 5 sessions (48% higher; middle half -1.7% to +1.6%), and -0.1% over 20.
