India's DGFT notified export quotas allowing shipments to the Maldives under a bilateral agreement for 2019-20. The quotas cover potatoes, onions, rice, wheat flour, sugar, dal and eggs, with rice at about 89,454 MT and wheat flour at about 78,612 MT.
The exports are exempt from existing or future export restrictions.
These are small, bilateral volumes relative to world trade, so the price impact is minimal. The notification does signal that India's exports to a neighbour are protected from curbs.
