The European Commission has proposed anti-subsidy duties of 8% to 18% on biodiesel imports from Indonesia. The Commission cites export financing, tax breaks and below-market palm oil supplied to producers.
Indonesia plans to challenge the duties, and the case follows a March EU decision to phase palm oil out of renewable transport fuel.
Duties would make Indonesian biodiesel less competitive in the EU, reducing palm oil demand from that channel. This is bearish for palm oil prices, particularly for Indonesian supply.
After 158 past bearish trade events, Palm Oil moved a median +0.0% over 5 sessions (51% higher; middle half -1.3% to +0.8%), and -1.4% over 20.
