The federal government committed up to C$1,982,915 to the Prairie Oat Growers Association to develop oat varieties suited to Western Canada, which produces nearly 90 per cent of Canadian oats. The new cultivars are meant to resist major diseases, pests and climate stresses.
This is a long-term research investment with no near-term effect on oat supply or prices.
After 49 past policy events, Oats moved a median -1.1% over 5 sessions (39% higher; middle half -3.3% to +2.7%), and -2.0% over 20.
