The US EPA raised the chlormequat chloride residue tolerance on oat grain to 40 ppm, effective May 26, 2020, matching Canada's existing limit. The change lets Canadian growers use the Manipulator plant growth regulator on oats sold into both countries.
Removing the residue barrier widens the marketable supply of Canadian oats into the US, which can support Canadian oat exports and prices.
