Western Australian researchers are studying Septoria leaf blotch, the state's most common oat disease, which causes yield losses of about 10 per cent in high-rainfall areas. A GRDC-funded project is testing fungicide programs and variety resistance.
Disease losses in oats can tighten local supply and quality, but this research is early-stage and has little near-term price effect.
After 16 past disease events, Oats moved a median +2.3% over 5 sessions (69% higher; middle half -2.7% to +4.3%), and -1.1% over 20.
Moves of each commodity's benchmark from the last close before the event. Historical reads pool past events of the same kind; they describe what happened, not what will. Not investment advice.
