Pakistan's planning minister Asad Umar reviewed fertiliser supply, saying urea and DAP stocks are sufficient and dismissing reports of imminent urea price hikes. The government said it plans further fertiliser price reductions.
Separately, the regulator Ogra has proposed a roughly 214% increase in gas prices effective January 2020, which industry says could push urea up by Rs600-700 per bag.
A proposed gas tariff increase would raise urea production costs in Pakistan and could lift local urea prices, while government stock assurances work against that. The net effect on feed commodity prices is minor.
After 129 past bullish policy events, Urea moved a median -0.1% over 5 sessions (47% higher; middle half -1.3% to +2.3%), and +1.4% over 20.
