Argentina announced a state takeover of Vicentin, its former top soymeal and soyoil exporter, which entered bankruptcy in February. The government will send a bill to Congress placing the firm under the agricultural arm of state energy firm YPF.
Vicentin held about 19% of soymeal sales and 23% of soyoil shipments.
Government control of a major exporter adds uncertainty to Argentine soymeal and soyoil export flows, which could disrupt Southeast Asian, European and Middle Eastern supply in the near term.
