The United Soybean Board announced that the Army Corps of Engineers and Louisiana will fund and proceed with deepening the lower Mississippi River from 45 to 50 feet. The board said checkoff-funded research informed the launch.
The project is intended to move soybeans in higher quantities at lower cost.
Lower freight costs on the lower Mississippi should help narrow the gap between Gulf export prices and interior soybean prices over time.
After 206 past bullish logistics events, Soybeans moved a median +0.5% over 5 sessions (56% higher; middle half -1.3% to +2.6%), and +1.4% over 20.
