USDA data show June 2020 US cheese production at 1.105 billion pounds, up 3.5% from June 2019. Butter output fell 3.1%, nonfat dry milk fell 7.1%, and skim milk powder rose 17.7%.
Milk production in June was up 0.5% year on year.
Rising cheese and milk output adds supply to the dairy complex, which is mildly bearish for milk prices and dairy by-product demand for feed.
After 273 past bearish report events, Milk (Class III) moved a median -0.2% over 5 sessions (39% higher; middle half -1.3% to +0.4%), and -1.4% over 20.
