India's DGFT amended export policy conditions for rice under Notification 51/2015-2020. Exports to the EU, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway and Switzerland require an Export Inspection Council certificate, and this becomes mandatory for other European countries from July 1, 2021.
The inspection requirement adds paperwork for Indian rice shipments to Europe, which may slightly raise export costs and delay some deliveries. Overall the change is procedural and unlikely to move world rice prices.
After 100 past neutral policy events, Rough Rice moved a median +0.0% over 5 sessions (51% higher; middle half -2.6% to +2.3%), and +0.7% over 20.
