Ukrainian seaports shipped 3.2 million tonnes of grain in February 2021, up 16% from January. Wheat shipments rose 20.8% to 0.7 million tonnes and corn rose 16.4% to 2.4 million tonnes, while barley fell 24.1%.
Egypt was the top wheat and corn importer and China the main barley destination.
Steady Ukrainian port flows add export supply to the Black Sea market, which is mildly bearish for corn and wheat prices. The effect is modest because the increase is in line with normal seasonal trade.
After 480 past neutral trade events, Corn moved a median +0.2% over 5 sessions (54% higher; middle half -1.1% to +1.6%), and +0.7% over 20.
After 206 past neutral trade events, Wheat (SRW) moved a median +0.1% over 5 sessions (53% higher; middle half -1.3% to +1.6%), and +0.5% over 20.
