Producer price differentials (PPDs) in federal milk marketing orders improved in March 2021 but stayed negative in six of seven component-pricing orders. Uniform prices rose in all 11 orders, with the highest at $20.11 per cwt in Florida and the lowest at $14.85 in California.
Negative PPDs have persisted in some regions since May 2020.
Negative PPDs reduce the effective price producers receive on their milk checks, so the gradual recovery supports farm incomes. Higher uniform prices reflect firmer milk values.
