The American Farm Bureau Federation sent a letter to Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack listing seven priorities for USDA on supply chain problems. The letter cites scarce and costly farm inputs, expensive highway freight, slow maritime exports and tight farm labor.
It also asks for support for small meat packers and for tariff rulings that account for farm costs.
Persistent logistics and input cost constraints raise production and marketing costs for feed producers and livestock farms. The letter is a lobbying request and does not itself change prices.
