Longshore workers at Louis Dreyfus Co.'s export grain terminal at the Port of Seattle ratified a new collective bargaining agreement by a 93% yes vote. The deal follows three years of negotiations that began in 2018, and the union says it will set a benchmark for other foreign-owned grain exporters in the Pacific Northwest.
The deal removes a labor risk at a US export terminal, so it is unlikely to move prices. It may reduce the chance of future strikes at Pacific Northwest grain ports.
