Colorado corn growers have joined the National Corn Growers Association in demanding that Mosaic withdraw its request for tariffs on phosphate imports. The US Commerce Department imposed duties of 9% to 47% on phosphate from Morocco and Russia in March 2021, and growers say these have pushed prices sharply higher.
Duties restrict import supply of phosphate fertilizer into the US, keeping domestic DAP prices high and raising corn production costs. Any reversal would ease that pressure.
After 151 past bullish policy events, DAP moved a median +0.0% over 5 sessions (50% higher; middle half -0.6% to +0.9%), and +1.9% over 20.
