Darling Ingredients has agreed to buy FASA Group, Brazil's largest independent rendering company, for R$2.8 billion. FASA runs 14 rendering plants processing over 1.3 million tonnes a year and supplies meat and bone meal, tallow and blood meal to feed, petfood and renewable diesel users.
Consolidation of Brazilian rendering capacity under Darling could tighten supply of meat and bone meal and animal fats and strengthen waste-fat feedstock flows for renewable diesel, which supports tallow and vegetable oil demand.
