USDA's Economic Research Service reported egg prices 20.6 percent lower in September 2026 than a year earlier, while dairy prices fell only 0.3 percent. The Bureau of Labor Statistics shows the average retail dozen of Grade A large eggs at $2.27 in September 2026, versus $3.49 a year earlier.
The retail price gap reflects different measures and slower pass-through in dairy than in eggs. It does not directly move wholesale feed ingredient prices.
