FAO delivers 36,000 tons of USAID-funded TSP fertiliser in time for Yala

FAO delivered 36,000 tons of USAID-funded Triple Super Phosphate fertiliser to Sri Lanka's Ministry of Agriculture on 19 March 2023. The fertiliser will be distributed free to paddy farmers for the Yala season starting in April.

It is the first TSP shipment to arrive in Sri Lanka since 2021.

WHY IT MATTERS

This is a small, donor-funded fertilizer shipment with negligible effect on global phosphate prices. It has little bearing on feed grain supply, so the price impact is minimal.
