India banned exports of de-oiled rice bran (DORB), a cattle, poultry and fish feed ingredient, until November 30 after domestic milk and fodder prices surged. DORB domestic prices rose to Rs 18,000-18,500 per tonne from about Rs 5,000-15,000 in recent weeks.
DORB is a feed ingredient that India exports in small volumes, but the ban removes an export outlet and points to tighter feed-ingredient supply. The move supports prices for rice-based feed meals and competing protein meals.
