A new Grain Central article reports that the GRDC has launched a $4.18-million Oat Septoria Research Consortium to address septoria avenae leaf blotch in Australian oats. The disease can cut yields by up to 15%, or up to 50% in susceptible varieties, and about 90% of Western Australian oat crops show some infection.
Research into septoria affects long-term Australian oat yield potential but has no immediate effect on prices for feed buyers.
After 16 past disease events, Oats moved a median +2.3% over 5 sessions (69% higher; middle half -2.7% to +4.3%), and -1.1% over 20.
Moves of each commodity's benchmark from the last close before the event. Historical reads pool past events of the same kind; they describe what happened, not what will. Not investment advice.
