NASS's Grain Crushings and Co-Products Production report, released December 2, 2024, showed 510 million bushels of corn used for alcohol and other purposes in October, up 3% from September. Fuel alcohol use was 460 million bushels, also up 3% month over month, while beverage alcohol use fell 46% from a year earlier.
DDGS production reached 1.87 million tons, up 4% from September.
Steady corn grind for fuel alcohol supports corn demand, while higher DDGS output adds feed supply that competes with meal. The net price effect is modest because the monthly changes are small.
After 770 past neutral report events, CORN moved a median +0.2% over 5 sessions (54% higher; middle half -1.1% to +1.6%), and +0.7% over 20.
