The USDA's weekly Grain Transportation Report says CPKC's rail service is improving, with unfilled manifest grain car orders falling for three weeks to 489. Grain unit-train dwell times on the Kansas City Southern network remain elevated at about 55 hours.
KCSM had also embargoed shipments earlier in November.
Easing rail constraints helps move grain from the interior to export positions, which can narrow basis in affected regions. Elevated dwell times still limit rail capacity, so the price effect is small.
