A JIRCAS note summarises an OECD and AMIS analysis of export restrictions on maize, rice, soybeans and wheat from January 2024 to June 2025. Rice was the most targeted crop at 45% of restrictions, and Argentina, India, Russia and Ukraine accounted for about 85% of new or ongoing curbs.
Removal of restrictions by major exporters has driven the recent fall in food price indicators, and renewed curbs could lift prices for import-dependent buyers. The note is an analytical review rather than a new policy change.
