A Farms.com article reports that a new Agriculture Transport Coalition analysis finds one week of rail and port disruption during peak export season could cost Canada's grain sector up to $540 million. The losses come mainly from missed export sales that cannot be recovered.
The findings were released as part of the Too Much on the Line campaign calling for labour framework reform.
Lost export sales would push buyers toward other origins and weaken Canadian basis. The study strengthens the case for labour reform that could reduce future supply shutdowns.
