Peru's Produce ministry authorized the first industrial anchovy season for the north-central zone with a quota of 1,914,049 tonnes, published April 1. The newsletter also lists other April resolutions, including IMARPE research permits and a revised 2026 artisanal mackerel quota of 80,655 tonnes.
The anchovy quota sets Peruvian fishmeal supply for the season, and fishmeal is a key protein input for feed buyers. A tight quota supports fishmeal prices, which can lift demand for soybean meal as a substitute.
