The White House asked Congress for more than $11 billion in added farm assistance, including $10 billion in temporary economic support for 2026 row and specialty crops. It also includes $1.1 billion in disaster aid for losses from the Southeast freeze.
The administration says the request is on top of $12 billion in Farmer Bridge Assistance payments.
Additional aid supports farm incomes and can keep acreage and output higher than low prices alone would imply. The request still requires congressional passage before it affects supply decisions.
