Russian exporters are shifting from sunflower seed to sunflower oil and meal shipments to Kazakhstan after Kazakhstan suspended phytosanitary certificates for Russian seed on October 23. Kazakh seed purchase prices fell from 200,000 to 160,000 tenge per ton in one month.
More Russian oil and meal entering Kazakhstan adds competition and downward pressure on oilseed product prices, and Russian export forecasts have also been cut because of port and terminal constraints.
