Brazil's Ministry of Agriculture and the Mato Grosso veterinary service will run a national animal health emergency simulation from 30 July to 5 August 2022 in Juscimeira. The exercise uses a foot and mouth disease outbreak as its field model, while its theoretical component covers high pathogenicity avian influenza and African swine fever.
It is designed to test the official veterinary service's response capacity.
The drill tests Brazil's readiness to contain major animal diseases that could close export markets, but it does not itself change current supply or prices.
