The Swine Health Information Center funded a literature review on research priorities for H5N1 risk to swine, to be led by a University of Minnesota researcher. The review is due by late summer 2024.
No cases of H5N1 have been detected in US swine.
The project is a monitoring and research step with no immediate effect on pork supply or feed demand. It reflects continued concern about possible spread into the US hog herd.
