Malaysia will raise its crude palm oil export tax to 10% from 8% in December, the Malaysian Palm Oil Board said. The December reference price was set at 4,471.39 ringgit (about US$1,001) per tonne, up from 3,949.73 ringgit in November.
The new tax structure applies a maximum 10% rate when prices exceed 4,050 ringgit per tonne.
A higher export tax and reference price raise the cost of Malaysian palm oil exports, which tends to support palm oil prices and can shift buying toward other vegetable oils.
