China responded to new US tariffs with a 15% levy on US chicken, wheat, corn and cotton, and an extra 10% levy on US soybeans, sorghum, pork, beef, seafood, fruit, vegetables and dairy. The measures take effect March 10.
The response expands China's retaliation beyond earlier measures.
The levies raise the landed cost of US feed grains and soybeans in China, reducing US export demand and pressuring futures. Buyers are likely to source more from South America and Australia.
