U.S. Henry Hub gas prices surged to their largest single-day gain in over 18 months, and global benchmarks in Asia and Europe moved higher. Analysts said Henry Hub is setting a price floor for LNG markets, while fewer expected cargo cancellations also supported prices.
More than 100 U.S. LNG cargoes were canceled or expected to be canceled between June and August.
U.S. LNG export flows now act as the marginal supply for Europe and Asia, so Henry Hub strength transmits to global gas prices. Higher gas costs tend to raise fertilizer and energy costs that feed into grain and feed ingredient prices.
