ADM Investor Services' October overview said the USDA October report was bullish for corn, soybeans and wheat, with yield and acreage estimates below trade expectations. It also cited recession talk, a stronger dollar, lower energy prices, China demand and Ukraine export disruptions.
Lower USDA crop estimates point to tighter corn, soybean and wheat carryouts, supporting grain prices, while a stronger dollar and weaker energy prices offset some of that support.
