Soybean futures gained ahead of the USDA Quarterly Grain Stocks and Prospective Plantings reports. Analysts expected soybean acreage to fall from 87.05 million to about 83.76 million acres, and corn stocks were estimated at 8.151 billion bushels.
Soybean meal demand is tied to crush estimates of about 188.6 million bushels.
A lower expected soybean acreage would tighten supplies and raise meal prices if confirmed. Any surprise in the reports could move prices sharply for feed buyers.
