Brazilian soy producer groups AproSoja and ABIOVE signed a memorandum of understanding in Lisbon on January 20 with European soy buyers FEDIOL and FEFAC and the IDH sustainability initiative. The agreement aims to foster more sustainable soy production and trade, including benchmarking Brazilian farms against sustainability criteria.
A formal sustainability framework for Brazilian soy sold to Europe could over time shape which soybeans and meal EU feed buyers can source, though it has no immediate effect on supply.
