USDA has paid farmers $14.03 billion of a promised $28 billion in compensation for losses from trade disputes with China, as of early October. The latest trade aid round has paid $5.43 billion, up from $4.07 billion in mid-September, while $8.6 billion has been paid under the first Market Facilitation Program round.
Continued government payments cushion farm income and may keep acreage and feed grain supply steady despite weak export demand, a bearish influence on corn and soybean prices over time.
