Dry outlooks for the rest of March threaten further drought damage to South African maize in the eastern Free State and Mpumalanga. Dam levels in the summer rainfall area are between 50 and 70% of capacity, and some parts of the North West are waterlogged.
Lower South African maize output would tighten regional supply and support white and yellow corn prices, pushing feed buyers toward imports.
