The FAO Food Price Index averaged 107.5 points in December 2020, up from 105.2 in November and marking a seventh consecutive monthly rise. The FAO Cereal Price Index rose 1.1% to 115.7 points, with wheat export prices higher on tighter exporter supplies and Russia's export tax.
The 2020 index average was 97.9, a three-year high.
Rising cereal and vegetable oil indices signal firmer global feed grain and oilseed costs. Higher world price levels raise input costs for feed manufacturers.
