India's feed crops are running short. Both maize and soybeans are coming in light this kharif season. Poultry and dairy feed in India depends on both.
Maize: 20-23 million tons. That's the industry estimate for kharif maize. The government's third advance estimate for 2025-26 put the record crop at 30.5 million tons.
Soybeans: 10.79 million tons. SOPA's kharif estimate is down 2.1%. Moisture stress sharply cut output in Maharashtra, Karnataka and Telangana.
Soymeal: $358 to $631.86 a ton. That's the price move from January to July, as supply tightened.
Less local feed, more import need. Losses in both crops tighten domestic feed-grain and soymeal supply, supporting ingredient prices and raising India's need to import.
